IAM WRITING THIS FOR MY FATHER EVAN BUNCH WHO STARTED ALLIS CHALMERS AS AN ASSEMBLER IN 1944. HE HAD JUST COME HOME FROM THE ARMY, SERVING ALONG THE RHINE RIVER AS A PARATROOPER. I ALSO WORKED THERE AS DID MY TWO SISTERS AND TWO BROTHERS. I HIRED IN 1972 COMING HOME FROM VIETNAM. DAD WAS ALSO PRESIDENT OF THE UNION FOR A GOOD NUMBER OF YEARS(U.A.W. LOCAL 1319). HE WAS ALWAYS A HARD WORKER AND NEVER MISSED WORK. HE BECAME A SUPERINTENDENT OVER ALL THE ASSEMBLY OPERATIONS OF THE PLANT IN LAPORTE AROUND 1977 UNTIL THE PLANT CLOSED IN 1983. HE PASSED AWAY IN FEB. 2005. IF YOU REMEMBER HIM, I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO HEAR ANY MEMORIES YOU MAY HAVE OF HIM...HIS SON CHUCK BUNCH
