There is a video on YouTube just now that said the IH 1206 was the first Tractor over 100 horse. I thought that honor went to the D 21.

The first IH tractor in 1965 and with a turbo at 112 HP. The D-21 was 1963 and 103 HP without a turbo. There are a lot of videos by A/I that are wrong.

AI looks at a thousand different sites and tries to SUMMARIZE what they all say in one paragraph..

one site says the 1206 was the FIRST IH tractor over 100 HP - this is correct
one site says the 1206 was the FIRST TURBO charged tractor over 100 HP - this may be correct
one site says the 1206 was the FIRST TRACTOR over 100 HP.. - this is wrong

you can change a lot in the meaning by taking out the word TURBO.. or IH...

when you SUMMARIZE all of the DATA into one  AI POST, it is easy to get it wrong..

Like them all, but love the "B"s.

I asked the AI why the D21 with the turbo was tested before the 1206. It changed its mind about the first turbocharged tractor over 100hp.
I think the signifigance of the 1206 is it was the first IH tractor over 100hp, but not much else. By the time it came out Allis, Deere and Oliver were making tractors over 100hp. If the benchmark is 100hp at the drawbar the 5010 beat it by a couple years.

D-21 series 2 with turbo was Nebraska test #904 dated June 1965.       Farmall 1206 with turbo was test #910 and dated September 1965.
