A Steffes online auction ended a couple days ago that had what appeared to be some very nice allis chalmers tractors on it, and what they brought kind of reflected that. Here's the results.
7060 black belly: $27,000
7020:$16,500
200: $16,500
D17:$9,200
D14:$4,950

I don't know if they were in immaculate original condition, or if they were refurbished, but they looked good in the pictures. The D14 was obviously repainted, because there was cream color on it. I don't know how to post a hot link to it, but if you go to Steffes Auctions website, you can get to the auction results. I hope that these tractors went to a good home.

Wow!   As far as I could tell they were working tractors, not collectors.

Im not sure but i think the return to fully mechanical tractors is accelerating. Theres a fellow in my area grows sod grass and bought several jd tractors new about 125 horsepower. They could not keep them running. Now he has a crew locating and buying 40 and 50 series jds from the 1970s and 80s running them thru the shop pretty extensively and doing away completely with computerized equipment

Farmers around here are resurrecting old Allis WD and WD45 tractors that have been sitting for years.  I have done engine rebuilds and other repairs for local guys here and we have put 5 back in service in the last year or so .  The story is always the same.  The import tractors in those sizes available now as a "chore" tractor are too expensive, too much unreliable electronic junk and they just don't stand up.

Rebuild an old Allis and it's probably go for another 70 years or so, and if something gives trouble, you can fix it yourself.

The trend to go back to old iron started happening around here about 15 years ago. Farmers pulling out their old tractors to put them back in service. We continue to farm with all AC’s and never upgraded. I’m so glad we didn’t. I’ve added 3 more AC’s in the past 5 years, enjoyed fixing them up and putting them to back to work.

I’d let my d17 go for $8000…
Doubt anyone would give that if they seen mine..

Was it gas or diesel?
