Hello all,

I am putting a Char-Lynn torque generator on a D grader. I was thinking tapping in the existing hydraulic system and would the system have enough pressure/flow for the added load?

Thanks.

Those old systems needed 3 GPM to work. I'm thinking 1200 to 1500 psi. You'll need what they call (back in the day) a priority valve or a flow divider valve. The hyd pump sends 100% of its oil to it first. It then sends the first 3 GPM (adjustable flow) to the power steering system out the priority port. The remainder of whatever flow the pump can deliver then goes out the secondary flow port to your machine/implement valves.

Great and thanks Dr. Allis. I will look into a “priority” valve.
