Tranny, you are a LIAR... The PRESIDENT ALWAYS nominates someone to fill an empty Supreme Court position in the LAST YEAR .   What YOU dont like is McConnell did not put up a VOTE for the bummers nominee, because McConnell was a REPUB and bummer was a DEM and Mc Connell know in advance that the TUR'D would not be confirmed.. WHY WASTE YOUR TIME............. When the President and the Senate are in the same PARTY, they have ALWAYS nominated to fill the job, and the Senate normally confirms..

Supreme Court vacancies in presidential election years

In the wake of the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, questions have arisen about whether there is a standard practice of not nominating and confirming Supreme Court Justices during a presidential election year.  The historical record does not reveal any instances since at least 1900 of the president failing to nominate and/or the Senate failing to confirm a nominee in a presidential election year because of the impending election.  In that period, there were several nominations and confirmations of Justices during presidential election years.

There is NOTHING but Libretard BS as to the seating of a SC Justice.  The Dems were STUPID enough to change their OWN rules recently as to placing a justice then they need to abide by their OWN Rules.

Typical logic of, if it was wrong once, let's keep doing it wrong until infinity when it finally equals out instead of doing it RIGHT.

nothing was ever WRONG... The bum NOMINATED a judge for the Court.. McConnell runs the SENATE and said YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH VOTES... so why bother !!  It NORMALLY only works if the WH and SENATE are from the same PARTY.

Disagree there. But you got to go back a little further than 2016. We build wrong upon wrong all the time, politicizing the crap out of the courts is one of them. We (the Senate) won't vote for his confirmation simply because a Dem Pres nominated him is wrong, IMO. I'm dreaming, I realize, but a nominee should be vetted, a hearing held, and a vote taken, so that we know why there's a confirmation or not, rather than simply, "they did it".

That may be your opinion but that opinion doesnt mean much. If the Senate doesnt want to vote for a nominee then that is the Senate's prerogative and if they do want to, again that is the Senate's prerogative. Same with Trump. It is up to him if he waits or if he goes full steam jam it down their throats and out their azz. JAM AWAY!

Again, SCOTUS appointment is a two step process.

President nominates......Senate confirms....or not.

When both are of the same party and mindset, nominees tend to sail through. I believe that was the case with Bummer's nominees Kagan and Sotomayor......activists both.

Bummer did make an additional appointment.....Merrick Garland.....an otherwise meek and mild plain vanilla jurist, except he had a history of ruling against gun rights. So was clearly yet another activist (would have been Bummer's 3rd) and a threat to 2nd amendment rights. So nominee was held up by Republican majority in the Senate, as was their perogative.....as outlined in the Constitution. They took it one step further by failing to vote, thus parking the nomination in permanent limbo until after the election and after that congress came to an end, effectively voiding out the nomination. The same would happen to ANY Republican nominee if the Donks ran the Senate now.

To think otherwise is bogus.

And to clarify, all the noise now is the realization by the Democrats that their desire and need to pack the court with judicial activists is slipping away with each passing Trump nomination. What was 4 activists and 4 not, plus one wishy washy, is about to become 3:5 + 1

Desperation is setting in.

BTW, that same Republican majority in the Senate came into being as a result of Bummer's actions in previous years. Appointments and legislation. Voters flipped the Senate....in large part to put an end to Bummer's wayward ways, and they did.

Agreed. Totally.

Just saying, it's "sad", that the court is such a political thing, where that's the last thing a court should be. Sad, but realistic and pragmatic, I get that, it's human nature and always will be.

We take steps closer to our downfall all the time. It's just the way the world works.

Merrick Garland should have at least had a vote. They wouldn’t even have committee hearings. If he didn’t have the votes after the hearings, so be it. But ONE man decided 8 justices was enough for more than one year.   So don’t go complaining about adding a few more later on.

As for Garland’s first time being confirmed as a Federal Judge; Garland's confirmation vote came to the floor of the Republican-controlled Senate on March 19, 1997. He was confirmed in a 76–23 vote and received his judicial commission the next day.

He got a 3:1 vote in a REPUBLICAN Controlled Senate!

And that begat a 20 year record for Judge Garland.....enough to know what to expect if he  got to the highest court and in position to do some real damage. So Senate did what was in affect.....a vest pocket veto.

In doing so, Senate expressed the will of the people who put them there.....and in doing so, that action kept them there. That's the way it works.

What followed after that......Trumpy getting elected, and with consent of a Senate of similar mindset, appointed a non-activist judge more to the Senate's liking, whom the Senate confirmed with relative ease. Pissed at that? What set that in motion was Bummer's actions 6 years before. As he said then, elections have consequences.

The TUR'DS didint push for Garland becase MNBC and CNN TOLD THEM that the BICH was 97% going to win !!!  When they had the White House, they would push it thru after 2016... Except the Media LIED to them... The BICH did not get 97% and McConnell  GOT IT DONE !!!

In Lieu Of New Justice, Trump Announces He Will Simply Grant Clarence Thomas Two Votes
September 23rd, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.—President Trump surprised everyone today when he announced he will not appoint a new justice to fill the Supreme Court seat previously held by the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Instead, to save the time that a lengthy confirmation process would take, he’s simply giving Justice Clarence Thomas two votes now.

“He’s a great and brilliant Justice,” Trump told the press. “So instead of trying to find another person just like him, he can now have two seats. I checked the Constitution, and nowhere in there does it say I can’t do that. Incidentally, it also doesn’t say a dog can’t be on the Supreme Court. Hey! Maybe Air Bud can do it! Is Air Bud real? Of course, he's real, right?”

Justice Thomas, in addition to having two votes on each decision, will also get twice the pay. And he now has two chairs, which means that during hearings he can use the second seat to put his feet up. “It’s pretty sweet,” Thomas told reporters.

Mourners Honor RBG With Emotional 21-Molotov-Cocktail Salute
September 23rd, 2020

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Mourners gathered across the country this week to honor the life of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Outside the Supreme Court, fans of the late RBG conducted a stirring, emotional memorial ceremony that ended with a beautiful 21-Molotov Cocktail Salute.

"This is our way of honoring our great progressive Justice Ginsburg," said part-time Antifa arsonist Ron Meechan. "We hope that she is watching us from above as we torch this 7-Eleven in her honor. Blessed be her name."

Seven shabby figures then stumbled into a line as a nearby comrade played Lady Gaga's "I Was Born This Way" solemnly on a bugle. Each of them carried three glass bottles filled with gasoline and urine.

"Ready!" yelled out another comrade. "FIRE!"

"FIRE!"

"FIRE!"

All observers bowed their heads and removed their helmets, ski masks, and Budenovkas for a moment of silence. As they watched the 7-Eleven burn to the ground, they said a silent prayer to no one before joining hands and singing Jon Lennon's "Imagine."

A few short moments later, police and firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze in honor of RBG.

I didn't mean it the way it sounded. Just they are going through with it and it is not at all illegal nor was it illegal the way they did it in 2016.

That video of the blond chick screaming and cursing while driving.......um...she is sitting on the right side of the car! did someone give her a fake steering wheel like a five year old and told her she is driving?
