Just got a 67 D-17 diesel that has a steering issue. When you go to turn the wheel there is a little resistance but then the P.S. will kick in and turn the wheels ok, but after that it doesn"t seem to relax, so you need to keep steering al the time. You end up using all the road for sure, and don"t go to fast! Is this a problem with the control valve? Also does anyone know where to get some decent fenders? Thank you in advance for any help.

Mine did the exact same thing.  The nut had come loose that that holds the shaft that goes through the steering valve.

A good friend of mine would ask if it could be the nut behind the steering wheel...

The steering shaft is splined and so is the steering wheel that goes on it.  I've never seen any of those nuts work loose - they all rust in place!

Read my post again. I think you will agree that "the nut behind the steering wheel" is responsible for most of the tractors problems!
