Okay, I'll bite- most didn't, but SOME AC D15's actually did have a shuttle clutch...  ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest. |

From what I've seen, the shuttle-shift option was found most frequently on I-series "industrials"... heavy grille and heavy front axle were the obvious clues, as were the I-designation on the side... I-40/I-400 and I think the industrial variation of the D15 was referred to as the I-60 or I-600. I'm pretty certain (and there's others far-more-expert than I) that they initially referred to them as D-xx Industrial, just like the I-B designation, prior to just calling them I-xx?... But the shuttle-shift basically traded the field high-low capacity, for a fast-reversing working operation. I THINK that when they redesigned the housing to change it from a Power Director function to a Shuttle Shift, they may have also nix'd the transmission's REVERSE gear and made it an additional forward ratio... I worked on an I-60 several years ago, and I don't recall seeing an R-position on the shift pattern, and it would make sense to put that gate to use to partially make up for the loss of half the drive ratios... how's yours configured? ------------- Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. They actually ground off the R in the shift pattern. Mine has 4 forward and 4 reverse gears and all of the reverse speeds are the high range gears and the forward gears are the low speed gears so everything but the reverse gear is used, which I think they remove.
