Thinking about going to look at a hd3 diesel crawler with a blown head gasket, how good or bad are these engines ? If a head was needed would I ever be able to find one , I know that there were very few d15 diesels made, can the basic parts needed to keep it running still be found, such as steering clutches, shuttle clutch parts, ect ,the undercarriage is supposed to be good, any opinions or advice would be greatly appreciated ,I have a w.d.45 diesel and a d19 diesel that I have owned since the 1970's ,I am well aware of their head-block issues,I was wondering if the diesel   Hd3 - d15 engine was any better -more dependable than my 45 and d19 have been,is there anything specific that I would to look at on this crawler?? Thanks!!!!!

I had one of these diesels in a I600 backhoe. It ran fine and I haven't heard of "issues" per say. You'll always find used parts if you look long enough. This diesel is generally considered under-powered so if you get the HD3 and put it to work you just have to be patient.
