Hi guys, new member.

It looks like I shucked a steering brake lining on my 9B that I only use every few years, pedal to the metal! I have been trying to get out the access plugs from the case to pull the retention pin but they won't move using a 3/4" breaker bar or IR 3/4" impact gun. Applied some penetrating oil to no avail. Any suggestions?

Jack

Heat - red hot heat can be your friend - not a propane torch but oxy-acy heat.
OR drill and chisel - drill out to close to thread size and remove last with chisel

Also check the adjusting nut on the brake band - had them strip out so they would not hold adjustment - next thing pedal to the metal like you say . Work great for a while and then hit brake hard and the threads would skip a few and brake fail

Heat plug red hot, and let it cool to about 300 degrees.  then apply a beeswax candle to the threads.  then try tightening the plug, just a little.  if you get it to move just a little, you have it beat.

Thanks guys. First I'll check the adjusting nut. For a torch the best I have is a mapp. I was thinking about drilling , cutting a section out with an air saw, then collapsing the plug. We'll see how this goes in a few days.

Thanks again. Jack
