Any advice on the best method to install this roll pin (located under the oil pump). Block is open, didn't know if this piece can be pressed out of the block? or just keep banging knuckles on crank journals. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If this is the tachometer cable drive assembly?.... remove the retaining bolt/clamp and pull it up and out of the block......just like removing a distributor from a gas engine. You might have to twist it a bit to let go after being stuck there for 40 years, but it should lift right out.

Dr. allis, thanks for the reply. Yes it is the cable assembly, and is rather stuck, can I knock it out from the oil pan side with a punch, or will this damage the assembly?
P.S. All I want to do is install the roll pin and then reinstall the tach assembly
