The engine clutch on my HD-5 has stuck after sitting for a couple weeks.  I've tried driving around with the clutch released as well as running into a tree, neither helped.  Any other suggestions?

The cluch sleeve must be freese on shaft and need lubrification and should have a hose with greace fitting

Open the inspection plate on side of bellhousing and observe the action of the clutch.
Lat time i had that happen to me - one of the fingers from the throwout sleeve had come loose and did not allow the pressure plate to disengage.
As the clutch is a overcenter clutch the sleeve needs to snap back and forth - when clutch is engaged or released there has to be free play in the lever -
IF all else fails - loosen adjusting bolt and back off the pressure plate a couple notches .
Without looking into the clutch housing to see actual movement or problem it's hard to diagnose .

Did take the cover off, couldn't tell if the pres. plate was moving but had about 1 1/2 inch movement on the driveshaft brake.  Freeplay at both ends of the clutch lever stroke.  Sleeve was greased when I used it last.

You can feel the resistance of the overcenter clutch as well as hear it snap in or snap out . If you have 1 1/2" clearance on the clutch brake - something is wrong .
Inspect the linkage between the the throw uput sleeve and the pressure plate, be sure all the links are there and all the pins are in the links .
Another possibility is IF the facing on the clutch has came loose and wedged into area of disc and clutch.
I have seen where the splines have been bad enough that clutch disc hangs up also but that will in most cases shake loose.

Thanks for the input, as far as I can tell everything operates the same as when the clutch was functioning it just won't shake lose.  As jobs are piling up in the shop and field it'll be a few days before I can devote much time to my own projects.  I'll get back to you if anything develops.

Once the clutch on my HD6 adjusted itself too tight so that it would not disengage. Can you feel the clutch lever snap over center? Try adjusting the clutch.

Got the bell-housing and clutch off of the HD-5 this morning, turns out the clutch basket was packed FULL of dirt and wouldn't allow the press. plate to move back.  With a good cleaning everything should be back to normal.Big smile
