What are you wanting this swap to do for you? To change any gear, you'll have to change the one it drives also. If you take both gears out and bring them to a reputable gear cutting outfit, they would be able to fix you up if your pockets are deep enough. $$$    If you want a slower gear it might be cheaper to by a set of RC differential gears.

i want to swap because in 5500lbs i lose power, were in 4500lbs first gear is perfect, so if i go a tooth smaller i wont power out as quickly

You don't need different gears, you just need more power:)

Arouond here a WC or WD needs stroked to even think about competeing in 5000lbs class. Like maybe 400cu in's. So the cheapest route would be to find a set of RC gears to put in.

Carl, with a little work you should easily get down to 3500, and pull up to 4500 , stock, but 4500 you need to have a good running stock engine. If you want to pull heavier in stock class's you need a D17 for 4500 and up. What are your class rules?, what Div. ? I pulled a stock WD45 for a few years and 5,000 was its practical limit at 3.5 mph and 18" drawbar with 14.9 x28 un cut tires. Occasionally I pulled in other places against Div. 2 tractors with topcuts, and won some . But for 5500 div 2 or 3  you need more power and way more tire.

Hey Carl, if you put a ring & pinion in out of a wd-45 gas that should be about right.

no one has 3500 around here. i already have the gleaner E with flat top 1/8 over pistons, a pulling carb and plenty of RPM. just need the power to last long in 5500, thats why i want dif gears
