I am posting for a friend that owns an HD6E ser#13484. He is unable to access the forum because of his work situation. I have never posted on a forum before so I hope I didn't violate any rules by posting!

What I need to find out is..

1. What year this machine is.....ser#13484

2. He has 37 pads and a 5 roller frame, I need to find out if there is an interchange between years/models of A/C undercarriage parts i.e. rollers, chains, idlers and sprockets

3. We are fairly remote in Alaska, regardless, I/we need to find out if there are suitable outlets for used/new parts for this machine, preferably in the western half of the states and websites/phone contact #'s etc.

Any info you fellas can come up with will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Dave...AlaskaHD6E

1960, very first of the 'new' version with a 6000 motor, should still have a dry master clutch and fibre steering clutch plates. A lot of changes after 14484, these 6Es have wet backends and different final drive gears
Track frames are different on later ones 15730 up.

Undercarriage parts from HD5 and HD6 interchange (except for the length) pads and sprockets, seals , rollers, and finals interchange. Rear housing of 6 and 5 are the same casting.
Should be suppliers in MT, UT, WA, and Cal on used parts ,
Try Northern Engine , also Minnpar here in MN for some parts new, Check Rock and Dirt site for suppliers also.

Merv and Coke: Thanks a bunch for the speedy reply! At least this gives me a ground floor heading to proceed with some reconstruction...this puppies travel iron is totally shot! Dave

Gents: I have one other question...do any of you have a production spec sheet that illustrates the design specs on the rolling stock undercarriage parts i.e. rollers and idlers ..mount flange dimensions and width spread? I am looking at BERCO replacement parts but need to find some specific dimensional data , short of actually bustin' the truck frames down. Any additional help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dave

Coke: Thanks for the rapid response. The wear gauge is a very helpful tool, thanks. Actually though. what I was looking for is dimensional data such as what I have for my Cat. like listed in the link below. I hope you, or one of the other gents, might be able to provide a similar product. Please excuse the clarity of the photo as I actually have it as a rich text format and I couldn't figure out how to post it here.
Thanks in advance,
Dave

My AC service manual has similar dimensional data for my HD7G, I've not seen any on the 6 series to know if they had them.

Google crawler heaven then  click on wear limits and it gives new size for new parts. But has been" improved" and not as helpful as before. Sorry I cannot make a link as I am not that computer literate.

Hopefully Jensales will forgive me but I copied a few pages from my service manual, it does cover the HD6 series as they use much the same equipment as my 7G. I can probably send them e-mail but they are too large to post here. Send me a PM as to your email address.

Jensales 1800, 443 0625, has or can reprint a service manual for many older pieces of equipment especially our old Allis'
