Just did the head gasket on my new to me toy but when I went to put the positive ground on the battery I get a small spark and can hear the generator click inside. Told to flash the field because it sat for so long, not too sure what goes where. Battery - goes to f and + goes to A ??  any help or ideas
Bill

Sounds like you don't have things connected correctly. F on generator to F on regulator. A on generator to A or GEN on regulator. Battery to BATT on regulator. What you're wanting to do is "Polarize" the gen. Momentarily jump across the BATT and GEN/A terms on the regulator. Don't do anything with the field.

If you have a cutout on the genny, it may have a stuck contact (can also happen on a regulator). This would feed power into the genny causing it to heat and drain the battery. LOL Bob
