HD4 is aprox 3/4 yard  it is smaller than the HD5G which was a 1 yd machine
Without good counter-weight the machine will tip forward easily with a loaded bucket.
Believe the AC 2200 engine was around 50 HP as used in the HD4. engine was also used in cotton picker with a turbo and developed about 85 HP

I've got an original brochure on the HD4G. A one yard bucket was standard and a 1&1/4 yard bucket was available as an option. The engine was rated at 59 HP. Overall weight fully equipped - 12112 lbs. If and when?......I could scan and post it here.

It is a industrial machine and not a construction or heavy machine. Was made for utility work and farm it seems .
For personal work it might be fine but for going out and doing a days work, yes it will do the job but better machines out there for that.
I sold my HD4 but kept my HD5G as it was less problems and easier to find parts if needed. Then my HD5B dozer was replaced with newer and larger machine with the FD5 Fiat/Allis. I had a 14ft AC 615 Detachable hoe on my HD4 (still have the hoe) but found the AC 715B TLB did more work than the HD4 did and easier to get around and better at digging .

i figured it was for like utillity work because my dad never had or even talked about them the smallest machine he had was a hd6g he call a lowseater it was the one that took the hd5 place if the had4  would have been more contruction machine he would have had one to haul around easier. he hauled that hilift hd 6g a many time in the back of the dump truck you just had to make sure there was a pile of dirt to unload off off.

dad had a tilt trailer he used to haul hid hd6g with and he bought a old 955 cat with the pony start they loaded it on the tilt and broke the frame it was so much more heaver.
