Dose this tractor have any collector value? Only thing I see different is the grill shell. Is there any production numbers on these?

The other thing I see is either no muffler or an under the hood muffler.

I think that Norm Steinman had one like this. If I remember correctly it had an electro magnet underneath. I would say that it will have some collector value but it would have started life as a regular WD-45 in West Allis and been converted by a company that likely also installed other equipment. Do you have any history?

There was a similiar discussion back in August. Hopefully I can provide a link ? http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55760&KW=&PID=433373&title=pictures-from-indiana-ac-partners-state-show#433373" rel="nofollow - http://www.allischalmers.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=55760&KW=&PID=433373&title=pictures-from-indiana-ac-partners-state-show#433373

Sure looks like the same headlight mounts as on the yellow one in that other discussion.

Bob Vanderploeg has one like this also. Jim Palmer gave me some info and photos of one like this also. If I understand this type of tractor, it was also made for the Navy in Oxnord CA.

I think it would be neet to keep as modified you have one of only a few ever produced, the one with the magnet had a generator (pto driven) to pic up metal from runways I thinik.

I went to the show at Hickory Corners a couple years ago, Massy Harris was the featured tractor. There was a Massy Harris with a generator on the side of it and an electric magnet under it. It was said it from the Air Force I think, and was used for picking up steel on run ways.

I guess my question would be what would be the purpose of the modification(s). Also, does it seem reasonable that an industrial machine would retain the paint scheme....except for the large "WD-45" on the extended rad shell? Would the company doing the mod even bother with the "WD-45" decal?
