had generator rebuilt this spring due to low output and bearing failure. rebuilt unit put out a very accomidating 20 amps plus. finished field work. miminal amp output. measure voltage @ run from battery @ 10.8 to 11.1 volts.  at generator, same. lights on, same. suspect faulty rebuild. would like directions on test measuring voltage regulator for performance. 3 wire assy. thankyou in advance.....bolivar boy.

You should have BAT volatge at the BAT terminal on the VR. If so the next thing to do is jump the F terminal on the gen to ground. This should make the GEN go to full field and charge 100%. If it does you have a VR/wiring problem. If it doesnt then you have a gen problem

After you short the F to ground and if it still doesn't work, pull the belt off, disconnect the F wire from the gen, and apply battery voltage to the A terminal. The gen should spin fast like a motor. While motoring, ground the F terminal. It should slow down but continue to motor. If it passes these tests, load test your wires. If they all pass, your regulator is faulty.
