How big of a rotary mower can a B comfortably handle?  I'm thinking 48" but was wondering if a 60" is too much?

I've seen my dad do some crazy things with his old 8n over the years so I know that these old tractors can/might handle more than they are rated for.

I'm hopefully about to buy some land (crossing fingers) and it will need a lot of cleanup work..  mostly tall weeds, bushes, etc., and I'm looking for a used rotary mower to use behind my B once I get it running.

It will handle a woods L59  or L306 without any problems. an L59 is 60 inches and a L306 is 72". I have a L306 on a C. has the same engine as a B and never have a problem. if your wanting a Brush cutter than down size. I'd still go with a 60"

Thanks.. I need to do some heavy brush cutting..  that is if I even get this property I'm trying to buy..  about 10 acres of heavy weeds, small brush.

I would consider a 48" blade.  Why, in not heavy work the B can handle 60" but in what you suggest you are doing I would stay with 48".  Don't forget an overrunning clutch.  With a mower with that big of a blade they can "push" the B.

Take good care of my favorite.
Good Luck!

My B runs a 3-point, 60" rotary mower, works great!

For heavy cutting a 48" with an over run clutch would be right for a B. Light cutting it will handle a 60" just fine.
