So I got the top cover on and found that the shift lever under the cover is broken.  It is a clean brake a little bit away from the rounded part.  I'll try to post pictures later.  Does anyone have part number http://www.tractor-part.com/search.aspx?+KNOBS&q=LEVERS+A+ALLIS+CHALMERS+70262260&l=IA" rel="nofollow -

Thanks

I have welded other shift levers back together after they were broken and when we were moving their location or changing the location of the transmission.  I always used just mild steel wire in the mig to weld them up.  Did my 6060 after a calf went through between the seat and the steering wheel about 25 years ago and never have had trouble with it since, the shift lever I mean, not the steer...

I think welding with just the 7018 would be my choice. 6011 is a deep penatration rod and may give you trouble with burn threw. About the only times I use 6011 is if I'm welding something that doesn't or cann't be cleaned very well. Also I have found you can settle the arc of 6011 down some by dipping your rod in water for a few seconds.
