Well, got to try out the D-17 we just got this weekend.  All is well, but am wondering about the clutch.  It is hard to get into gear some.  Noticed in first especially.  All it takes is to release and push the clutch in again and then it goes right into gear.  No slipping or anything.      Since you guys have been so informative on the site i thought i would ask if these tractors can go for a good while like that.  Doesn't seem too serious at this time, but other people's experience with them would be great.  Also, are they a bear to put a clutch in?

That is normal for a non synchronized tranny with heavy meshing dogs. Just takes a bit of motion to line the dogs up.either by releaseing the clutch or the rear tires moving a bit. Rememberthe power director must not be in nuetural when releasing the clutch to gain engaugement.
