Today I was able to actually get some seat time on my D14 and after about 8 hours this is what I think of it.

Let me just start by saying that this tractor is amazing!!! The little 4 cylinder engine is super strong. I ran it all day on just 5 gallons of gas, our other tractors could only dream of that. I couldn't bog the motor out no matter how hard I tried. I put it in 4 high and let it pull itself up some hills at idle. The ride on this tractor is also wonderful, the seat has plenty of travel to it and that really helps over rough ground. Being able to flip the seat up and stand was also a welcome feature after a few hours of sitting. Now I cannot imagine living without the Power Director. Having live PTO was so nice an being able to go from slow to faster without having to stop and change gears was just too cool.

I know that I have forgot something to brag about on this simply amazing piece of equipment. It's size is not too big as to get horrible fuel mileage but it isn't too small either. If the rest of the D- series lineup or the Allis-Chalmers tractor line in general is as great as this tractor is I couldn't imagine wanting anything else.

Now I believe I would like to become a collector of the rest of the D-series. I have always loved the D-19 diesel and based on the performance of D-14 I couldn't possibly see it being a bad tractor.

My D14 is my favorite; the D15, D17, and CA are real close tho. Have yet to burn 10 gals of gas in the 14...and it has worked 10+ hours straight with a 6' roto tiller and a double V hay rake many times.
