I recently purchased a 1975 7050 with 4500 hours, knowing it had a few problems with engine. It originally looked like a blown head gasket.Ote

Engine will start Originalrigi

Engine will start immediately even cold 50 F.

Problems that I found.

1. Crack in head under # 3 injector.

2. The block was repaired above oil filler, looks like a long time ago.

How far should I go...?

First of all welcome to the forum, 2nd please change your text color to something we can read. 3rd. I am not sure I understand your question....How far should you go? Are you talking about the rebuild? Fixing the cracks? What?

If the block repair is holding well, and has been , I'd say leave it alone.

Depending on the cracks around the injector port, they may be fine, or they may cost you another block, need more info. Why did you suspect a blown head gasket, how big, how many, and were are the cracks running from to?

As far as how far you should go to fix the old girl, I'd say all the way, this old girl will be a lot of cheap horsepower for years to come if you fix it right.

I'm glad to have found this site.

A little history my dad is an Allis freak he has 25 old Allis tractors.

I spent my first 20+ years restoring his fleet with him.

I personally was a bit tired of the parts cleaning and weekly tractor pulls.

25 years later he asked me for help farming, very unusual??

So we started farming together, actually having fun with it.

That leads me into THE OLD GIRL Dad has always wanted an Allis with a cab.

So I cruised Craig's list and found a 7050 with engine problems, she has new tires and batteries + duals, chisel plow, 20 foot disc also.

The owner had passed the tractor to his grandson.

He was using it to chisel plow with and it suddley started to blow white smoke from the valve cover vent, and decided he needed a newer tractor and bought a Stieger.

When we looked it over we notice a crack in front of injector #3.

We taught we could go thru the head and her back in the feild.

Update I had time to check compression 2-6 have 330 psi #1 0 psi. Removed head and found a nickel size hole on the front edge of piston. What would cause a hole?

A partially plugged injector not putting out the right pattern is probably the culprit if there is no sign of anything floating around in the cylinder, like a piece of a valve or something. Does it look like the hole is melted in, or punched in, are there marks on the head, or other areas of the piston?

That tells me it's an injector issue, either it is a worn out tip, a broken tip, or partialy plugged. What happens typically is a lot of the fuel that is suppose to be evenly distributed and atomized is more or less sprayed right on the same spot, making a hot spot, so you need your injectors gone through by a shop, and at the very least a new piston.

No marks on piston or head. We measured the compression at 330 per cylinder. The service manual shows 500 psi engine warm and at 600 rpm, we spun the engine with cold with starter, Is there a rule of thumb for comprission? I would really like to install one new sleeve and piston, repair head and injectors.
Or should we rebuild the complete engine... Clutch... Selector.... How much would I expect to spend on parts in these scenarios?

I would do the one cylinder, (I have a good sleeve & piston) And get the injectors done by a competent specialist. I know a guy. LOL!

If I UPS injectors what would it cost + piston and sleeve.
