On my 190 the trans oil is filling the right axle housing causing the outside axle seal to leak and not keeping trans full. Was told its the axle cap can get to it by removing the pto housing (two speed pto) Any tips tricks or things to look for when I'm in there? Just replace the cap with some kind of sealer to keep it in place?

Did you just replace the cap? and good to go. Wonder what makes them come out? old age mine has around 7000 hours. My tires are worn and when I'm empty on a hard dirt road in 7 or 8 gear I do geat a vibration, wonder if that would shake it loose?

Mine vibrates too in road gear, most do, if the cap looks good i just used silicone and glued it back, if it fits real loose u may consider gettng a different one or doing a little chisel work on it

Talking with a neighbor this morning about the problem, would medium strength loctite be what a person should use when installing the cap into the trans housing?

Took the pto housing off the back today cap was laying inside also the bolt that threads into the end of the axle, must have turned out and pushed the cap off. Good thing the axle didn't seem to be moving around. When cleaning the rear housing for reassembly found some small metal pieces, lower front bearing in the pto housing was close to failing, balls still in the bearing but the metal that keeps them in place was what I found in the bottom. So need to find a new bearing tomorrow.

So maybe it was a good thing it started leaking before any Real damage was done internallySmile
