I am thinking of going to get this tractor but not sure really if the 6 Cylinders gas 265ci get that great of fuel economy.

Can these tractor be or how hard would it be to put the snap couplers on the tractor and the mid hitch.

I may get back in to making some small square bales/but mainly keep the old farm looking great. some local tractor shows.

This tractor is not for income just small pumpkin patch and a toy. I was looking for diesel but this seems to be a nice tractor

I have seen that one listed for sale, and I also thought it was a  real beauty.  As for the gas engine, there are 2 180 gas tractors amongst are family, and I will say they are a nice running, gutsy little bugger.  However they are not real easy on gas, but not really any 6 cyl. gas tractors are.  I would buy if I were you.

The torque tube has the casting ears and bolt holes to mount the snap coupler off a D17 Series IV  if you have the parts.  You'll need the lift arms too from the Series IV and  you'd have to probably modify the linkage to make the traction booster work.

In my experience with my 180 gas, the tractor doesn't do too bad on fuel (for a 6 cylinder gas) if you are using it at full HP capacity like for plowing or discing.  If you are doing an chore that doesn't require the full HP,  like say some brush hogging, it uses much more fuel than you'd expect for a lighter chore and that's where you'd be disappointed.  I used to brush hog with mine with a 7 foot mounted unit but now do most of that kind of work with a D17 and a 6 foot pull type and burn much less gas.    Mike

correct me if i'm wrong....but i think the gasser 180 had more HP than the diesel did, not much...but a few more! that's a clean looking tractor! i bid on a 190 gasser at an auction one day....i quit at $7500.00, and it kept going, selling for $9700.00...whew! it didn't look as nice as this 180 tho! i really don't think you can go wrong on this tractor! sure is cleaner than my 180! maybe e could work a trade? lol

Thanks guys. This should be a great tractor. It's a toss up if I want gas or diesel.

It would look a lot meaner with some 15.5 x 38's or 18.4 x 30's on the back and a set of 9.5L - 15's on the front!

either way you look at it the 6 cyl. gassers are thirsty. our d-19 will burn up a full tank of gas  (plowing or disking) in a full 8-10 hr day.  a 262-D will do the same amount of work for using about 30-35% less fuel. nice tractor, plus about $1600-$1800 worth of rubber on the rear.

Maintaining the gas engine will be easier and cheaper than a diesel.  And that is a very nice looking tractor.  Sheet metal is straight and new rubber.

What is the asking price??
