| hey guys i'm restoring a 1951 wd and i would like to rebuild the motor with some more compression and maybe a reground cam to get more power/efficiency. Does anyone know where to get any for the wd? i have heard that the 170 kit will give more compression in a wd45 but i was hoping that someone made a kit just for the wd. thanks, Kevin |

Pretty sure there are not any current production hi-compression pistons that will drop in. I lucked into a set of old stock M&Ws for our WD wake up. It is realy easier to go with a 45 crank. Several piston choices then including the standard WD piston which combined with a 45 crank gives a large comp ratio boost, I am thinking about 10-1? This will require fuel beyoung 87 octane and timing adjustments but so will any other combination that yields a meaningful gain. We cant run regular with any kind of timing lead in our WD with the M&Ws and I think they are 8-1. |

| yeah thats what i was afraid of. The pistons i took out were M&W ones but they are pretty well scuffed and have a heavy ridge in the cylinder. Is there anywhere that i can get a wd45 crank for less than $400? Or maybe is there a longer rod that i can run in the wd to get the higher compression i am looking for? Kevin |

I've got a couple of 45 cranks that need ground. Would make you one heck of a deal on one just to not see it go to scrap. Not sure what the grid would set you back though. AaronSEIA |

Nope, rods, head, manifold, everything can stay the same. You'd be better off with a 45 carb and air cleaner to flow more for the cubes, but I've read here people say the WD carb can make the HP as well. Are you sure you don't have a 45 crank already? I've been in 3 or 4 WD blocks and they all had 45 cranks in them. when I get home, I'll figure out the shipping. Send me a PM with your zip to remind me. AaronSEIA |

| i just went and checked my crank and its part number is U3986. I do believe that if it starts with a U then it is the 4" stroke, but i could be wrong. |
