Well, I talked with d17Brown last monday on the phone for a while, and it would seem i mis interpreted something on my d17 of which wrong logic was carried over to new 175. Anyway, the part on the actual lever that engages the PD neutral location indent piece, isnt engaging said indent. The set screw has lost its hold and the lever no longer falls into neutral. I cant seem to work said part back onto rod to reset the set screw. So I need to remove the lever so i can fix this issue. Any ideas on how to remove lever?? I dont really want to heat things up.

Once you remove the big set screw on the bottom it should slide off....

Indeed that is how the engineers designed it, but i live in the real world with dirt, debris, and moisture(just like those pesky brake parts Eldon). You can guarantee that itll get anti-sized when it goes back on. But thanks for stating the obvious Eldon as maybe someone would actually try to remove the lever without removing the set screw :) Not enough meat to get a jaw puller on it.

I guess you got a rare one...most work loose over time. I've never had one that didn't slide right off. Maybe if you remove the stop and try to get some twisting action on the shaft or wedge something between the torque tube and lever.

Would a big tie rod/steering joint pickel fork work to wedge behind it to push it off? Mike

I think I would put a wedge between the lever and torque tube, snug it up and then tap on the shaft...there should be a little side to side slop and this way you won't damage anything inside.

Could you use a bearing seperator? It may not fit behind the lever but be worth a try

Take out the setscrew and pull the lever rearwards really hard....then use a little torch heat if you have to....get it to rotate on the shaft and then with WD40 it will work off.

As the Dr. said, soak with WD40 and work it back and forth.

OK a little update here, thanks for all the responses. The lever is off. If i had a bearing seperater in my arsonal i woulda tried it, but didnt have one around. It might not even fit. Anyway, I tried a 2 jaw puller a couple days ago with no avail. Last night after trying the wedging and hammer tapping to no avail, i tried the puller again. The problem i had was i couldnt get enough bite to really pull it. So after lightly installing the puller i took a clamp and put it across the 2 jaws to pull them slightly together. I then had to take some heat to it also. It was still no easy task. I had to pull it all the way off with the puller. No wiggling it off after it broke free. I got what i needed done and re installed it.
Another thing. I took the cover plate off that gains access to the PD, and on the oil pump it appears the screen is mostly (80%) covered in some type of brown crusty crudd. Can i remove the screen, or is it one of those things where you clean it the best you can in tractor? I think if you could get the 2 screws out the screen would come out to be cleaned. Thanks.
