Anybody experience problems with aftermarket gas caps? I bought one for my WD45 from the farm store....fit nice and snug...unlike the old wore out one that flops around. I thought the problem was solved...went to put gas in it today and it went swsshhh...so that means its not letting the tank vent. I threw away my receipt already...I put the old cap back on. Where can I get a good one?
Also wondering if anybody has experimented if the aftermarket oil gauges are accurate? I need a new one and don't know if I should go with one that says Allis-Chalmers on it or just get a 0-30psi gauge.
I have a aftermarket temp gauge that I am fairly pleased with...from what I have read they read a tad hotter than what the tractor really is...at operating temp mine shows well within the green mark.

It could be that the gas cap lets air into the tank but not out, so it could be building up pressure in the tank which won't hurt you.

My nice shiny chrome gas cap does the same thing on my 45...but she runs fine. Im hopin maybe she'll drink a little less gas

Have both the generic (no name) and the ones that say Allis-Chalmers on my tractors. Either style works just fine

Actually, yes, the caps are not supposed to be vented any more. Lovely EPA regs. I tend to drill a tiny hole in them to make sure. They usually will not pull a vacuum though and work fine even if they allow a little pressure to develop. JimD
