One of the mechanics brought in these first two to work today.  He was gracious enough to let me take them home and scan them.
These were taken at Steam Engine Days in Mabel MN back in the early 70s.  I believe the driver in my friend Kenny.  If it is the tractor that Im thinking of he farmed with it until the mid 90s and sold it.

This one hangs by my desk.  It was taken when three local farmers loaded up their pullers on one of our semis to go to a pull.  The D21 pictured is legendary.  It quit pulling around the time I was born but I hear many many stories about it.  Last I heard it was in Lennox South Dakota.  The owner passed away this past year.

I love to see pictures from this period in tractor pulling.  Back when they were still tractors and not alcohol converted component tractors.

Thought you guys would enjoy.

Big time tractor pulling today is a lot like NASCAR, nothing even remotely connected to anything on the showroom floor.  Seems like "stock" car racing is lost and fogotten, so much for win on Sunday (or Race day) sell on Monday. LOL Of course the farm stock tractors usually aren't either. LOL

Great pictures Jim!!!  I love the old pulling pictures too back when it was the farmers sport and not who had the most cash stuck in the tractor.  Thanks for sharing.

I too like that era of pulling. There is a fellow over on YT that has a wealth of photos from that time and stories to go along with most of them, posts as 1206SWMO and his name is Blaine. Dont know anyt other particulars about him, he used to watch this page a bit too.

I like the looks and fit of the 7000 series fenders on the D21 at top of page. too bad those are so scarce!

injpumpEd, I also noticed those fenders on the D-21 (top pic) weren't stock.  I thought they might be IH 66 series fenders based on the age/date of the picture (notice the single light fixture).  Still, way cool pictures from a time when pulling was real.

Who built the p-pump drives on the '21's in the bottom two pics??  They don't look like the Noble Harrison style drives....just curious

injpumpEd, I have a set of those fenders with the factory canopy off of a 7000 series open station. would look real nice on a pulling tractor without the top.
