I cant find any decent used tires to pull with around my area. I may have to go with new tires. Has anybody pulled with new tires? I know Firestones are one of the most popular, I have some people including farmers tell me the new ones are soft. One farmer said he bought new ones and has had them fixed 3 times because corn stalks are going thru them between the treads. How about the titan power lugs? They look like a good 45 degree tread, the bars look thinner than firestones. Our track is hard ohio clay, I would think a thin bar might bite better than a wide one. I am going to pull 4000 lb class, so being that light would a thin bar be better? I pulled a garden tractor for a while, I had 6-16 tires on it. I could out pull guys with 10.5-12 tires and 8.5s. I think they stayed on top and spun out while my skinny minnies hooked in and didnt tear up the track. What experiances do you guys have? What would you recommend? Also, what size? I have a nice set of old firestone champion all tractions that look new. Tread is good, tires are probably hard from age but dont apear to have sat outside. Problem is they are only 12.4-28s, they look like they would hook really good but being so small I dont see how they could compete against 38 inch wheels. If I am going to make the investment on tires should I go as big as I can? I am thinking 14.9-38, I hear they will flex and hook better than 15.5s. Sorry for the book, but I would really like to have some opinons before i spend $1000 + on rubber. Thanks, JM.

I would go with the 15.5's. I ran 14.9's for a while and I needed ALOT more under the hood. New tiers will pile the dirt in front of sled and bend over once things start getting heavy. I would also stay away from deep treads due to them being real stiff. You didn't say what you were pulling, but I have never seen them work real good on a WC/WD/45. I like the 38" rubber becasue of a little more lug on the ground. Do yourself a favor and decide what you want to run and get them on for a baseline and go from there. This all is just my opinion, but it worked for me

First of all, what are your local rules? Where I pulled several years ago, you were limited to two sizes over original equipment. "Cut" tires were prohibited, but worn tires were ok. It was alleged that Firestones and the 23 degree lug worked best, but I think that all depends on track conditions. Running the tires with very little air worked well on soft tracks. Under inflation didn't help so much on harder tracks. Your mileage may vary and it will - depending on what type of track you are pulling on. The holy grail of pulling is having the right setup for the track.

Ya, I pulled with new tires. At least they were new when I started to pull with them. The C had new tires at the start of the last five years I pulled. I pulled the Oliver 77 for over ten years and they were new when I started. I put new tires on all three B's that I pulled before taking them to a pull.

On size, the tallest tire as narrow as you can get them within the rules that you have power to turn under load for the 3.5 mph classes.
