what is the narrowest width rim i can use to put a set of 14.9's on my wc?? thanks  alan

   12" , tho, when I think about it I had a pair of firestone 14,9X28's on 11" rims and did well at pulling with them on a WD45, but I sure wouldn't go any narrower.

I bought a tractor that had 14.9's on 8" wide rims.  They looked like balloons but that was the way they were back then.  I believe the originals were 13-28's.  I have since widened the rims to 12"

Spec  book  says  13" width  for  14.9  tire , for  optimum  wear. Tony

My 13-6 Firestones say "on a 12 inch rim" on the sidewall. Came new on a MF on a 11x24 rim. 14-9 being the next size up could run a 12 min. or a 13 like Tony says.

14.9 is the modern equivalent to the original tires that were mounted on 8" rims from the factory. We have two WCs that we pull with this same arrangement, a 37 with spokes and a 38 with pressed steels. We have been very succesful with both tractors. Kip

Kip. On paper maybe. In the real world what was on those 8 inch rims compared to a   14-9 is tangerenes to oranges.
