I just bought a 1985 komatsu pc200lc and the hydro controls dont work the same as my jd backhoe. I have heard that you can switch a couple of hoses around on the komatsu and make it work the same as jd backhoe.Does anyone know about this and if so what hoses do you swap. Thanks for any help.

Does your Komatsu have servo controls or do levers via linkages open the main spool valves? In any case, the Komatsu should operate the same way as Cat excavators which seems to be the much prefered layout.

Depending which function you want to change and the type of control you have . My Ac 715B was set one ways and Cat another so switched the hoses on the control to match Cat now . If it is joystick control via electric or servo lines might be able to change over easily. check operators manual as it may have the directions on changing it .
The PC180 I had was the same as the AC but kid was going onto job running a cat excavator and wanted to practice so we changed the TLB over. Then sold the 180 so never got around to changing the hoe back yet.

thanks for the help. I bought it at an auction but the the previous owner bought it new and has all the books and service records. He is going to send those to me. A friend brought it home for me, he has moving equip and when he unloaded it he toldme the controls can be changed as he did his newer komatsu because he was used to the jd style instead of the cat style. He had a tech change his. I have only used jd style and this cat style don't work for me. He is going to hook me up with the tech next week. Thanks again.

It's funny how fast you can learn to use the different had movement though it seems to program into the mind fast , least the 2 stick control , I tried running a Ford TLB 4 stick and talk about novice beginner , afraid i was going to hurt myself with it .. Real slow and careful ..  But like running a 951B and my HD5G the controls for bucket are backwards also and real pain to go from one machine to the other.

I run a Linkbelt 330 at work, there is a diverter valve in that machine to convert from backhoe controls to excavator controls. We had a Komatsu pc300, that was on excavator controls but dont know if there was a diverter valve on that machine. Anyway ask your tech about a diverter valve. I dont think I could operate it on backhoe controles, I would get flustered after learning on the excavator controles, good luck and I think you will be happy with the Komatsu, good machine.

I learned on a 4 stick Ford hoe and felt like Coke when I tried to run my cousins case.  I guess the Case system is ok if that's what you learn on but I never could get the hang of it.  Most newer excavators have a electric switch system to change the controls.

At work we have all types of equipmet emaginable with every type of controld under the sun , it is fun when there is 3 types of hoes on the same job, I saw an guy tear some stuff up with a cat hoe that had been switched to jd after getting off a 220 about 30 seconds before, ha.  After that I was the only one allowed to run that 416it .

Well I talked to a salesman from the komatsu dealer today and he said the older models like my 1985 dont change over so easy. he talked me out of trying to change the controls and try to get used to the boom and stick difference. I 'll try again monday, I think I can whip it.
