Having trouble combining wheat. The tailings elevator is over-loading with grain. There's more grain in the tailings elevator than what's getting into the grain elevator. The adjustable chaffer and the adj. sive are all the way open. There's no straw getting into the grain bin or the tailings elevator. Anyone have any ideas as to the cause and/or solution to this problem? It doesn't make any sense to me.

It makes no sense to me either!If everything structual in the shoe is in it's proper position and condition it can't happen unless you can create enough fan air to blow everything clear to the back and have it drop down to the return slide.Just for grins,set the fan about half,chaffer1/2-5/8 & sieve 1/4-5/16.

I did turn the air down with no change. No grain going out the back either.

Is the adjustment on the fan "froze up". You may think your changing it but really you are not?

Close the tailings down and open the fan. Where are you running cyl at rpm, and cyl to concave clearance?An F should thresh wheat like nothing else(except another Gleaner conventional). I'd go cylinder no less than 1000rpm in extremely hot/dry conditions, faster if not too hot/dry. Try clearance at 3/16 inch, try sieve/chaffer at 5/16 and go from there, hope this helps, Trev.

Is the blank plate in below the seiv and chaffer, or is there small holes for weed seed to fall through when cutting beans? MACK

With the sieve and chaffer wide open you sure wont throw anything out! It will just return everything, like I said, try 5/16 of an inch on each and adjust wind open as much as possible(until it is throwing out too much then back off) that will clean the grain instead of returning it...Trev.

I will take the chaffer & sieve out to make sure every thing in place. I have the both the chaffer & sieve wide open so all of the grain should go right to the clean grain with some trash. I have run the air from low to high with very little change. I have no grain being blown out the back. I would think there would be a lot of trash in the clean grain but thats not the case.

What doesnt get seperated in the sieve goes straight to the tailings elevator and back to the cylinder to try again. Set chaffer as Trevman stated. Ryan

Make sure the cross auger at the bottom of the clean grain pan is turning at both ends.

Is the grain falling thru the tailer into the tailing auger or possibley spilling over from the clean grain auger into the tailings auger??? If the clean grain elevator doesnt get rid of the grain fast enought it backs up and goes into the tailings auger. Check the clean grain slip clutch, check all the rubber flights on the clean grain elevator chain, check keys in the drive and driven sprokets. Sounds to me like somehow your not getting rid of the grain out of the grain pan.

The bottom floor of the shoe where the clean grain falls could also have a hole in it allowing everything to fall into the tailings. Seen it happen on an L2.

Mack You The Man. Had to put in a blank plate. The holes are small but not small enough to stop the wheat from going into the tailings. Thanks to all for your input.
