I have a 5020 and is a great tractor but there is an issue with it wanting to over heat. I try and keep the radiator clean but still over heats if pushed. Previous owner took out the thermostat and I'm wondering if that's making it worse.
It also gets a dark oily film on the battery terminals and I have to keep cleaning them so it will start.
Any ideas to fix these problems?

I just had the battery problem.  Was caused by the ground cable, loose connection.

The overheating may be caused by the rad being plugged.  I had mine off when I changed the water pump, and it took me about two hours to get it washed out!  Runs lots cooler now.

Sounds like you need to take your radiator to a good shop and have it rodded out. My Komatsu excavator was doing that last year. Cost $60 to have them boil it out and rod. Cheaper than scorching an engine.
