1950 WD what is correct color?

What is the correct color for my 1950 WD? I think it has the newer AC orange on it like came out on the D series. It is turning pink on one fender. I would like to repaint the tracot.
What is the correct color?
And does Van Sickle or Valspar have the correct color?
Does Van Sickle or Valspar fade bad or turn pink?
I would be interested in your experiences...Thanks

The PPG code is 60080 others may have codes for other brands of paint. Persian Orange is the color name. Persian Orange #2 didn't come out until mid 1960 so the first 3 years of the D series were the original orange too. Tom

My opinion. Never use the cheap paint. Looks like it has had it put on it already. It only looks good for a short time. I can drive down the road and see so many with the cheap paint and just think what a waste of time.

I recommend the Tisco brand paint of Persian Orange #1. If you need the code I can get it to you. Blake

I have had no problem shooting PPG OMNI over any good and dry alkyd industrial enamel that will fade in time. Any Paint that is thinned with naptha or mineral spirits and calls for naptha or mineral spirits cleanup is a alkyd and will fade if exposed to sunlight. Durability is directly related to price. The labor costs the same for cheap or expensive paint. If you want a color and a shine that lasts go with a cheap automotive acrylic enamel like OMNI AE or MAE.

I sell the persian 1 in a high quality acrylic enamel. Manufactured by Klinger Paint Co. out of Cedar Rapids IA. It runs about $85.00/Gal. I also have it in a polyurethane but I can't ship the urethane b/c its considered hazardous by the shipping companies.

I painted an RC with Krylon spray cans in 03, and it still looks pretty good.

Pastor Mike, if you can swing it go urethane, especially if you don't have inside storage. Enamels tend to fade quite a bit. My CA was painted with implement enamel from Iowa Paint. To say it faded is an understatement. I painted my Oliver with urethane. So far so good.

If you are going to store inside enamal is fine. It also looks more orginal than urethane. Tisco paint is manufactured by VanSycle, I've used both and they look identical. The only down side that I have found is that even though I used hardener the enamal will scratch easily.
