Looks like the 220 would do the same work at 1/2 gal/hr of fuel less.

Looks fairly even on the PTO.  With ballast the 220 pretty much delivered the goods compared to the JD.

Notice the economy difference. The 220 will do more work on quite a bit less fuel. I couldn't find torque rise value but I'd put my money on the 220 to have better torque rise.

The 4620 in real life was no comparison to a 220. Had one, been there done that kinda thing, 220 would eat a 5020, and would put the fear of god into a 6030.

The 220 from the factory would put out near it's Nebraska hp.  The Deere tractors of that era wouldn't come close.  If you increased the fuel to the Deere's to get Nebraska hp, your fuel economy really went into the dumpster and engine durability would suffer.

From what I can recall of our field demonstrations back then, there was nothing that came close to a Two-Twenty for field performance.  Heck, the One-Ninety XT diesels were outperforming IH 1206's.  Don't remember much JD competetion other than 4020's weren't close either.

I don' t have to read the Nebraska tets. I farm with these tractors everyday.  Ive got a 220, 4620, 1256, G708, 2150, 97, 2255. All FWA's, and there is none of them that have the power, the old 220 has. Every one of them have something I like about them. An employee of mine said it best. The rest of those tractors are OK, but none of them are fit to bring water to the old 220. The 4620 has been a very good machine but not much power.
