Did Allis experiment with Hydro drive like IH did (656, 826, 1026)?

Good machines for light work but if you plowed with one you lost a lot of efficiency power wise. My .02

These new hydrostatic drive dozers, the power loss must be way less, right?
Used to be in design of the system, you needed to allow cooling for 1/3 of the power.

They did on the D21 for front wheel assist. It didn't work as well as they wanted. 10 tractors were built and 9 of them were converted back according to Norm Swinfords book. There is 1 floating around out there as it's buyer liked it...

No, they never had a hydrostatic drive tractor, the D21 hydrostatic front wheel assist was as close as they got, Deere had a hydrostatic front assist too, they eventually went to mechanical front wheel drive.

The IH Hydros are real popular with veggie growers. Still a lot of them around. Also good with a loader for haying and baling. The gas ones really know how to burn it. Diesels not as bad but still not good heavy tillage tractors.
