Can the front engine support be removed without supporting the motor for a short time in order to gain easier access to installing the pan back in place? Otherwise, is it necessary to place a suppport under the block or front pulley? Looks like the block is attached to clutch housing by 4 bolts at the most (I don't have the tractor here with me to look at).

Yes you can remove it and the engine will hang there fine, just don't start her up with the bracket off. If you need some help on getting the pan back on just post about it.

Don, thanks for your reply, I think I've read most of the tricks on doing this including curling the end gaskets inside a can to get them curved. One other question--there seems to be different preferences on sealant, RTV versus others, any thoughts. Thanks again.

no silicone permatex #2 non hardening tried and true used at the dealer for yrs.
