I thought I'd do a quick seal change on my belt pulley drive. I'm finding it not wanting to come apart. The AGCO parts books on line don't show any hidden snap rings, but it sure seems like there is one. The breakdown makes it look like all that's needed is pull the drive gear and then push the shaft out. I had some real pressure on it in a press, and was getting concernd about breaking something. Anybody have any suggestions?

I have one of these apart right now. All you need to do is remove the gear. The bearing can be on the shaft rather tight. I have a large bearing spliter that i put in between the flange and the housing and use it to press againt instead of the flange on the housing. Be careful not to wreak the bearing on the gear end as it is very expensive at $700.00.

Are you sure about that bearing being $700 and not say $70? I'm looking for the gold in it and haven't found any. LOL

I do have a big splitter. I'm tempted to try warming the inner race with some pressure on it.

Brian, I just rebuilt one for my D-14 not to long ago, and your right...there is no snap ring. I just removed the nut, stood it gear-end up in my press with the pulley removed, and pushed the shaft through removing the gear and the inner bearing in the process. As far as cost, the bearings were cheap ( I ran the bearing #'s online and found a surplus source ). The seal was around $20 from AGCO, and they also got me for the O-ring. Don't forget to loctite the nut back on, as you can see it was originally staked to the shaft. Let us know how you come out.
