I will be looking to buy a 100hp tractor with a cab that is field ready this spring. Interested in 190XT, 200, 210, 220, 7010, etc. or 1066, 1086, 1286 International. I have never driven anything bigger than a D17. Any typical problems to look for while shopping? This tractor will be my big tillage tractor on 60 acres of organic grains. Looking for one close to Eau Claire, WI. Looking for a tractor that is easy to work on because I do my own maintenance and if needed, overhauls. Also available and afordable parts. I will have about $7,000.00 to spend plus what it will take to get it home.
Any advise would be appreciated.

I think any of those would be good tractors except for the IH 1286, no such animal exist.

If you are considering IH don't leave out the 766 or the 966.  I would think a 966, or AC 200 would be more than big enough for you.  The IH is a heavier tractor but the 200 would be easier on fuel.

Well for ease of wrenching I would say the 210, or 220, would be best, but the cab of the 7010 will be really nice compared to the D17 :-)  Not an IH guy so don't know much about those, other than the neighbor had me help him cultivate one year for a few days, and the 1066 seemed powerful, but the cab was really tight.  The 210 or 220 kept things really basic, the 7000 series started to get inovative, and thus slightly harder to work on.  But find the right tractor that has been taken care of, and the wrenching will be a minimum.

Hope this helps!

older tractors with cabs probably won't have working A/C's but you never know.

966 or 200 might be in your price range

966 IH  seem to sell a lot cheaper than 1066's. They are about the same power as a 190xt or 200 (100hp) and a 1066 is about 125.There was a 966 on CL by Buffalo MN for many months that finally sold but he came down on price alot.

For that kind of money you could buy a very nice 190XT, 200, 7000, 7010 or even a larger 7000 series with decent paint and good tires.

I've never been a fan of a 1066, poorly laid out controls and loud rear ends that echoed in the cab, and our 7060 was alot nicer, of course this was back around 1980 and the tractors were only 4 or 5 years old

I never ran an 86 series but I've been told the cabs were much improved. A 1206 would be quite a horse for it's age, comparable to the 190 XT but I doubt your going to find one with a cab. And the prices are going up around here as people are collecting them.

Since your looking for a cab tractor I would say the 7000 series are the best buy for quality of cab. Most of the time you can buy a nice one for $7500 or less around here.
