I bought a set of lights and they came with a lighted toggle switch like shown below that I don't need. I had heard a while back that you could use a toggle switch sort of like a kill switch that grounds out the magneto and kills the tractor. Now for the dumb question, is their a way that I could get the light on the toggle switch to come on when the engine is running and turn off when I flip the switch to kill it without doing something crazy?

It looks exactly like the switch above and has the same label on the metal tips as the one below.

I don't think so because you need power to make the light work and you should never have power to it as a ground kill switch.

I am not very up to speed on Mags, but the kill switch provides a path to ground for the internals of the mag, if you provide that path even if via a light bulb, it probably won't run.  I don't know what volatge will be on that pin when running, and only when running, even if the kill switch is open (run position) but the tracotr isn't running the light won't be on.  If the tractor has a battery, then I could draw you up a way to do it by adding a relay, but otherwise, I think you are stuck with no light.

It would not work because it only lights up when the circuit is closed. When the circuit is closed the tractor is off. The switch would work on a diesel tractor because the kill switch kills the power to the fuel pump.

If you have a battery you could use the switch to open a normaly closed relay. It would complacate and ad a failer path to a normaly trouble free simple circut
