What 6 cyl engines did Allis put in their forklifts. The model# of the unit is ACP80L2PS, Serial#, DBF01464. Would they be a 262. Also he has a smaller unit, with no model# that he said looks like the same engine.

Happy New Year to you Calvin, and all the rest of the forum members. What source do you have for serial #s for forklifts. I done a google search and couldnt find anything. What would you offer for the motor if it was a 262, and hasnt been replaced. Also will it bolt into a tractor.

Brian, Check with Kalmar because they took over that line. In Ontario check with Lifttow.
They are still very much in business and were the A-C Industrial forklift dealer. From some brochures that I have, ACP (P=pneumatic) 80 (8000 lbs capacity) L likely means propane 2 likely means two stage mast PS (power shift). The literature is 1982 and does not mention engines. Nothing on serial numbers.  Models starting AC seem to be newer. IS is white and grey with an orange stripe?  Older forktrucks seem to start with FT or FB
I've seen some 6000 lb trucks with the 6 cylinder BUDA.

I have a serial number list. Can you recheck? Open the side door and read off the frame on the right side. D= built in Lexington, SC. B= February.  Third letter is the year. Here is where the confusion starts. There is no F for the year. E is 1978 and H is '79.
Chassis serial numbers are clearer.
