I spent several hours on my recently purchased 7030 over the weekend pulling a small baler. This is only the second and third times I have run it, so I am still learning a few things about running it. When I got it the hydraulic was a little low, so I overfilled it by about a gallon. I know I need to change out my hydraulic filters, and use AGCO filters. My issues are the power steering drops off at idle, but comes back just over idle. No numbers, the tach doesn't work. After about two hours baling it would occassionally drop the PD to low when I turned on the PTO. It wasn't often, maybe 4-5 times over four hours. It also seemed the PD was a little sluggish going into high. By the end of the night it would drop the PD to low just dropping to an idle. After we finished baling running back across the field at half throttle seemed to fix the PD issues, the shifts came right back to snappy and it didn't drop out at idle. Is it possible that a restricted filter could cause the oil to heat or foam enough to cause my problems, or should I be looking for a pump too? I do need to check and clean the cooler.
I also noticed the PTO valve is either on or off, it doesn't let me ease into it like the 190XT. Is that something that can be adjusted or do I just live with it?
It will probably be a couple weeks before I get a chance to do much else with it, just putting thoughts out there in case I'm overlooking something.

The PTO lever falling out of gear and the Power Director shifting to LOW button have absolutely nothing to do with each other...NOTHING. Where did you add oil ????????

The PTO isn't falling out of gear, the power director is shifting to low. I added oil to the full mark on the transmission dipstick inside the cab, and put about 4 gallons in the back to bring the oil about a gallon over the sight glass. It may be the drop in engine rpm when I put the PTO in gear that causes the power director to drop to low.

They are still not connected hydraulically. So, the problems are all Power Director circuit related it sounds like. Flow rating the pump would verify whether the GPM's are below the min spec of 13 GPM or not. On the bottom row of instrument panel lights there is an 1800 RPM light. It doesn't work at all..correct ?? If it was working, that would help in diagnosis, because if the lite is on above 1800 RPM that probably means the transmission/Power Director clutch circuit has a worn out pump. I'll bet things work better when the oil is cold and get worse the longer you operate it ?? Filter isn't the problem. Oil cooler is in the bottom tank of the radiator. Sounds like a worn out pump and possibly a power steering pump too, altho that could be a sticking/stuck flow divider spool. Parts aren't readily available for those pumps I am told but don't know that for certain.

Unfortunately about the only things currently working on the dash are the throttle and the key switch. It has aftermarket gauges added for water temp and oil pressure. I had to splice in to the wiring harness to get lights, I use a blade fuse for the switch. It doesn't get a lot of use, and works for what I am doing, just wanting to make it a little better. I was thinking the other day that I should make a small belt driven pump attach to the engine and use it as a secondary flow pump into the transmission circuit, splicing together their output flows. Or maybe using the OEM pump to "charge" the belt driven pump to see to it 200+ psi pressure is maintained all the time. Interesting that you don't seem to have oil transfer problems. Are you sure the dipstick is still full after using the tractor for a time ??

I am not sure of that. I will check it next time I am near it, probably this weekend. I noticed I get a few drips off the transmission filter, but not enough for a puddle, just marks it's spot. That would cause some loss, but my guess is transfer would cause quite a bit of loss.

Yes. When bad enough it can remove 3 to 5 gallons out of the dipstick (tranny/clutch) area and pump the oil into the rear end making it way overfull and the tractor stops moving.

I checked my transmission dipstick, it is still full. While I am thinking about this it seems that the power director worked normally after only a minute or two of running at lower rpm driving out of the field. Would water contamination cause it? The tractor did come from an area with higher humidity. I think my best course of action is to change out oil and filter, and see if that fixes it.
