I am looking for a good radiator for my 1958 D17 Gasser. Before I buy new I wanted to see if anything was available in good working order.
Or would it be better to try and have the original one recored?

If you have a competent radiator shop anywhere close to you, I'd say recore what you have. Do that and it should outlast you. Around here the good ones are gone and they just want to charge you to tell you to buy a new one.

With a recore you know it will fit. The aftermarket radiators seem to be pretty hit or miss... If you do buy one, I'd go with one of the forum sponsors or someone reputable vs. a random one from Amazon. The sponsors should at least have more knowledge and pay more attention to customer feedback if something didn't fit.
The last decent old school radiator shop around here told me it would likely be in the ballpark of $800-$1000 to recore my Farmall Super M radiator. That might be bigger/slightly more money than a D17 rad would be.

There is only one radiator shop left within 1 1/2 hours of me. Old school shop and I am thankful they are still in business. They have repaired my D17 diesel and D14 radiators. The other shops have went out of business due to the aftermarket world selling cheaper junk.
