Hello big orange land. I’m looking for recommendations for a muffler to quiet down my black belly 7000. My tractor has a straight pipe and while I have enjoyed the wonderful sound the last few years my hearing can’t take it anymore. Anyone have any suggestions? Prefer not to spend a fortune but do need to calm her down. Thanks much friends.

Does your tractor use the round muffler like a 200 or maroon belly 7000s or is it late enough to have the oval muffler like the rest of the 7000 series. And yes, the 7080 is a totally different muffler with the aspirator port.

Lynn, the tractor had this straight pipe on it when I bought it. The hood has an oval factory cut out in it so I assume these tractors(black belly) 1978 and 1979 I think originally had an oval muffler.

I put a OEM 7030 muffler on my 220. It's oval and I cut an oval hole in the hood for it. Much quieter that straight pipe! Should fit your outlet I think. Typing at same time....use a factory muffler for it,not a cheap Standley.

The first 552 black belly tractors used a round muffler like the maroon tractors. After serial #8553, they used the oval muffler. Agco and several aftermarket sources will have the muffler.

Thank you Lynn, I wondered about the serial number breaks and what that meant in muffler listings. Got one ordered on the way. As always thanks to all the members of the Allis Chalmers community.

A quality muffler really quiets the 7000 series. I’ve always purchase the oval type from my local AGCO dealer. They also seem to last a good while (decades?).
A straight pipe can produce a constant irritating drone at particular rpms &/or certain engine power/load bans.
If a muffler isn’t an option, a longer (30”) round glass pack muffler (open flow, but contains directional baffles) can drastically reduce the harsh drone.
