Must be a pretty good running 45 to pull that plow. I bet that makes her bark. Nice to farm table top flat farms. Don't think she would like to pull that here in Pa. on our hills! |

 Had upper rad hose off a couple days...Mr mouse thought that looked like a good spot to nest. Vacuum cleaner and some bent wires got it. On my R62.Had it drained to replace thermostats. Took too long.... |

 Walking on eggshells. Can't see if got corrct pic til"post". Oh well. Locked brake and spin F2 around in grass. Cracked weld and uneven ground combined for disaster. The 62 had broke the fan pulley the night before while unloading on the go. Warning light and beeper. WTH! Killed everything quickly! Never heard an engine boil like that. It went on and on. Left it set and grabbed the F2 next day while waiting on parts and this happened. Depressing to have 2 machines broke at same time. Complete salvage yard axle the next day got the F2 going and new parts for the 62 allowed "field repair" so only down 2 days. |

You’re lucky to have salvage yards near by, we have none. | Ugghh! Seen that before. Uncle was mad saying that should be a warranty item. Me? I rolled my eyes, jacked it up, took the axle back to the shop and welded it back together. Added a 3” strap formed around the end and welded it in for extra strength. Took a day |

Very nice sunset picture. Been there done that with the broken spindle on a Gleaner. I helped a friend that ran 3 MH2 sidehill machines. He kept a right and left spindle it happened often enough.

Considered the same but it bent tie rod ends and snapped the steering cylinder so complete assembly was the easiest. |

SteveM C/IL, most every 70s mfg gleaner that breaks off its rear steer spindle will tear it’s RIGHT spindle away from axle tube frame. Why? Because ALL of the steering shock loads from both steer tires transfer back to the hydraulic steer cylinder. The hydraulic fluid in the steer cylinder isn’t going to compress from the shock loads, so the adjacent weak point is just beyond the cylinder - the right wheel spindle. It flexes some for every shock load (years/decades?)until it finally fatigues & then breaks loose from the axle frame. And it will most likely happen again after an axle swap repair unless the steer cylinder base mounting along with its corresponding right spindle push leg are completely cut-off from the rear of the axle tube frame & right spindle and then the entire cylinder is remounted onto the leading left front of the axle tube frame where the cylinder’s base can be welded near the center of the axle frame & the cylinder’s push leg (from right spindle)can then be welded directly to the tie rod close to left spindle. After the cylinder is repositioned, steering shock loads will still happen. But the tie rod becomes the sacrificial item & mostly it just flexes. Have done several this style & never seen any breakage afterwards. |

| It really is surprising they never put a little heavier rear axle on those machines with all the issues people had. It "looks" like it would be a weak spot and it is. |
