Would a AGCO ST28A be comparable power wise to my D-14 , for doing odd jobs around our place?

24 PTO HP and it weighs 2400 lbs.    A D-14 is 34 PTO HP and weighs over 4,000 lbs.

When I look at the stats on Tractor Data, I would say they are comparable. In my opinion, there are advantages and disadvantages to the AGCO ST28A compared to a D-14.

Although I never had a ST28A, a friend of mine did. I have never driven the tractor, but I have never heard him talking about any problems with it. His tractor is 4-wheel drive (I don't know if they came in 2 wd.)

I believe all ST28A's were diesel. The Iseki diesel has a pretty good reputation. I also think that all ST28A's had power steering. I assume the ST28A had modern independent hydraulics and independent PTO that the D-14 didn't.

The downside is that I am sure there were a lot less ST28A's built, so I assume parts availability is not as easy as a D-14. His ST28A just doesn't look as heavily built as the D-14 but none of the newer tractors look very heavily built (to me).

Compacts are handy but power and pulling ability it won't come close to the D14

Main thing you don't wanna try it on is a square baler, those compacts just ain't heavy enough.  May also not be able to power even the smallest round baler...Wink
