My dad swapped in a 262 gas in a WD. We called it the D19 back then. Was planning to get a custom decal made when I get it closer to running

This caught my eye, never heard of a d18, does anyone own one? Or is it a mystery tractor?

I have a wd45 diesel with the 262 engine and turbo. The original 45d hood was stretched over the turbo and dry air cleaner.

D-18 was an experimental model. It's talked about on page 94 of Norm's bible. It was decided that it was not enough bigger than the 17 so they upped the power and made the D-19.

There was a picture posted on here some time back of a left/front side view of a D-18 proto. It was determined (at a late hour) that the D-18 experimental looked a little anemic (hood size/front axle beef) and then, only coming in at about that 60 to 63 HP size, which almost wasn't enough more for a 5 bottom plow, as compared to the D-17 with 4 bottoms ( say 13 to 14 HP per bottom).  Also, the new 4010 John Deere had just come out in August of 1960. It was rated at 80 HP, far more than what the D-18 was going to be.  I'd imagine the day after the new 80 HP 4010 was released, was when AC design engineers began thoughts of turbo-charging the D-262 AC/Buda. The gas engine just got more carburetor to reach 71 HP.
