It is with much sadness that I let you know my friend Herb Metz has passed away. He went to sleep Saturday and just didn't wake up. He is with our Lord now, healthy and no longer in pain.
His wife Mrs. Barbara is at peace with his passing, knowing where he is and that his suffering is over.

Herb and I have been friends since we met at the GOTO in Pawnee OK, we always said it was sad to have to travel 1,500 miles to meet another tractor lover that lives 10 miles from you! He and I traveled to many a show, and spent many a hour at his house talking tractors, gardening, and politics. I'm really gonna miss him, but will always think happy thoughts of him as I look out at a couple of his G's that came to my house when he parted with his collection.

Herb was a devout christian, loved his family, his country, and his Allis tractors (especially the G)

Herb, thank you for the moments

The Allis community lost a great one. I always loved talking with Herb when I would meet him at an event. Prayers for Mrs. Barbara, even though she is at peace with his passing there will still be some tough moments for her.
Joe, sorry for your loss also. You were a great friend to Herb and helped him a lot, especially during his later years.

Hate to hear this. 95 years is a dang good ride though. My great grandmother used to say she believed the ones that go in their sleep are saints. Considering the ones I've known that passed in their sleep, I have to agree

Sad to hear this, although distant friends, Herb was always a joy to talk to. Mailed him a copy of my service manual of the 720. A kind man, I will miss him. Prayers for the entire family, including his Orange family that will truly miss him.

So sorry to hear Joe . Thank you for posting. I met Herb in 2014 at the Laporte GOTO. He wanted everyone to take their hats off for the forum meeting photo so he could see their faces. At the Gathering at Boonville he was a wanted man as he kept bumping into exhibits with whatever he was tooling around on . He had a condition where he could fall asleep at any moment. There's a name for his condition but I am sure I would butcher it. He was a character and will be missed. Rest in peace Herb Ga.
