I am a proud new owner of this little beast. Was in great condition and low hours. I read up on them a bunch before buying and know that parts are very hard to get. Has anyone figured out an alternative to the 24 inch Tach cable. Mine is broken and would like the gauge to work so I can monitor hours and RPM. If there is an alternative I won't start sharing all of my "ideas".

I think there is a tachometer/hour meter that runs off of injection tube pulses, read something about it, somewhere.  Plus is that its an electronic sensor, minus is it's its not original...

Ah, here it is on fleabay:

I found an old new stock speedometer cable on ebay. It has the square end i need and is 24 inches. It is also the same cable diameter. I was able to remove the end fitting from the old cable and reamed it a bit to push out the crimps. Once I get the new cable, I'll cut to correct length and try to re crimp the end piece back on. Wish me luck... Will post an update if it works.

So, I have completed the repair. I used a standard Dorman 03368 Speedometer repair cable (6-10 bucks). It was the correct diameter cable and already had one end squared. I used the original cable housing and the cable end that engages the drive gear in the engine. I cut the new cable off to length and was able to use the crimping tool from the repair kit to seat the new cable in the old part by hitting it with a hammer. Re installed the assembly and have restored the function of the tach and hour meter. Hope this post helps someone facing the same situation.
