Hey all,

I need a muffler for one of the 7060s.

I see shoup is running a sale right now, was curious if anyone has used one of theirs with success, or if its the same muffler as all states sells for 130bucks.

Thanks!

Back in the day ( 426 /7000 series) I would remove the muffler on a brand new tractor for modification while I was prepping it for delivery. I had an 1 3/8" pipe about 3 to 4 foot long that I would slide inside the muffler from each end. I would hammer the muffler up and down on the pipe like driving in fence posts. After enough hammering the spot welds on the baffles (2) inside would break loose and fall out each end, making a straight thru hole for the hot exhaust gases. It didn't really change the sound much at all but, (if I remember right) lowered my exhaust temps nearly 100 degrees F under full load. That didn't answer your question did it ????

I put a muffler eliminator on my 8070. Hard to say it's any louder than before. That pipe through the hood spews above the cab top so maybe so? Straight pipe it....my open station 220 is another story. It's got a factory 7030 muffler.

Straight pipe is not loud if done right, keep it the same diameter as turbo outlet,3.5 inch or so ,5inch or bigger will drone. Keep the lenght as least as long as the muffler,no short stack. Ihave mine about as high as indicators on cab.

Go to a muffler shop and get a length of straight pipe long enough so that it meets the top of the cab.  Have it on my 6080, not overly loud.

If you put a muffler on it I’d only use a very reputable brand. Been down this route with a cheap muffler, gained 20 hp removing the cheap muffler.

Had a neighbor who would always say that if you straight pipe anything (even the 10hp lawn mower) you’d gain 5 hp..

I’d straight pipe it, love that sound of a 426 purring in the fields!!!
